Nami Island is located in the middle of the North Han River and the entire island is natural playground floating on the waters of the lake created by the dam.
This Island is suitable for picnics and recreation surrounded by chestnut and popular trees.
For all visitors the island is suitable for leisurely strolls or romantic dates.
The name of the island derives from the fact that it is home to the tomb of General Nami, who was a minister of the Military Board of Joseon Dynasty.
Since 1967 the island has been developed as an integrated recreation area.
Beginning in the 1980s Nami Island became a favorite location for the filming of movies (Choi In-ho's "Winterreise") and in 2003 rose to international prominence with the re-broadcast of the Korean television series "Winter Sonata" throughout Asia.
